Your Mother Instinct Will Be Your Best Guide

Here is a reflection on that very special guide: your maternal instinct. You will see that it is something very special and, without a doubt, magical.
Your mother instinct will be your best guide

It is often taken for granted that the maternal instinct is the best guide when it comes to the care, rearing, and teaching of children. However, some say that this is not a rule. There are exceptions, as in everything.

Traditionally it was considered that every woman, when seeing a baby cry, felt the urge to take care of it, know what is wrong with it, and satisfy its need. This is basically what is considered “maternal instinct.”

Some researchers (both scientists and humanists) affirm that this action is a primitive reflection of the human being. In other words, heeding a baby’s call and caring for it is one way to preserve the species.

Women who do fully experience it affirm that it is a reflex action that includes a high degree of empathy and that, therefore, it encompasses: compassion, tenderness, kindness, diligence and even generosity. In addition, they insist that it is a natural impulse.

According to the Dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy, in its second meaning of the term, instinct is defined as: ” Mobile attributed to an act, feeling, etc., which obeys a deep reason, without the person doing it not realizing it. or feel ”.

Then, the maternal instinct could be considered as the inspiration that arises in women regarding the care, protection and attachment to their offspring. Thus, it is a disinterested act and loaded with an enormous emotional connotation.

The beauty of the concept

You are the most prepared person in the world to take care of your baby. And yes, you can listen and be guided by the words of the experts in parenting and child development, but you will always have the last word. This is undoubtedly something beautiful, having the ability, as a mother, to be flexible and to know how to adapt to find the best for our baby.

When it is said that all a baby needs is its mother, this has a lot of resonance. This is a very significant statement that has been recognized by various parenting theories:  The only thing your baby needs to develop is to be loved.

The maternal instinct is not an urban myth.

And how is that of the maternal instinct?

Regardless of when the maternal instinct is felt (before or after having a child), the important thing is that it implies a desire to improve that is not limited to the individual level.

On the other hand, the place where the maternal instinct is born is not always the womb. Many women have felt this longing and love for their children, even long before they were held. Which is why, it can be said that the place where the maternal instinct is born is the woman’s heart.

Is the maternal instinct an infallible guide?

Your warmth, care and shelter offer him a pleasant sensation, similar to what he experienced when he was in the womb. For this reason, the maternal instinct supposes a connection that goes beyond basic needs and that, over time, creates and strengthens transcendental affective bonds.

So is the maternal instinct an infallible guide? No. It is not infallible but, without a doubt, it allows the mother to give her best and ensure the well-being of her children throughout life.

The maternal instinct is not an urban myth.

The human survival instinct

There is scientific evidence for the existence of the human survival instinct. However, in the case of the maternal instinct, no evidence has yet been obtained.

Therefore, everything that surrounds this concept are socio-cultural hypotheses. In other words, the maternal instinct, for the moment, is a social construct.

Although most women do feel, even before they are mothers, there are many women who simply do not. This does not mean that they have a defect or that they are missing something, they simply do not feel the call of motherhood.

It should be noted that even if a woman who has not felt “the maternal instinct” in her life, but when the time has come to take care of a baby (hers, a relative, etc.) can do well. Also, just because she does it right doesn’t mean she wants to be a mother.

Everyone has a different experience and opinion. Without definitive conclusions on the matter, no opinion can be invalid. And although the debate remains open and the investigations continue, nothing will diminish the beauty or importance of this concept, which undoubtedly continues to inspire tenderness.
